| 2025 Year End Letter Dear Volunteers, Sponsors and Friends, Happy Year of the Horse! Your work and generosity towards Heart to Heart in 2025 was extremely important. Through it, we were able to provide 434 children with the heart surgery they needed, which brought our total number of surgeries since our inception in 2003 to 3,872. Each and every one of the children were treasured by their parents and certainly became precious to us during their surgery processes. Let’s hope we are able to continue to increase the number of surgeries in 2026. So –Happy Year of the Horse! There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of Chinese children with congenital heart disease who need surgery and their families can’t afford it. Let’s hope that the Year of the Horse brings them to Heart to Heart and we are able to help them get that surgery. By working together as we did in 2025, we should be able to do amazing things. Here is a simplified overview of the year: Volunteers We continue to be a 100% volunteer organization (a Special Fund of Shanghai Rende Foundation) with no paid or reimbursed personnel. Our teams of volunteers continue to be small, but we have streamlined what we do and are able to get everything done somehow. It always amazes me how much we can accomplish with a 0 yuan budget! Thank you to all who volunteered. No matter what your task/team was – administration, Art for Hearts, assembly (Yoda and Yida Hospitals), bag packing/delivery, books, events, finance, Golf4Hearts, group volunteering, heart bears, knitting, management, marketing, playroom, processes & procedures, promotions/sales, sewing, sponsorship, translations, website, WeChat or the year-end report – I know that the 434 children who received heart surgery are glad that you contributed and that we were able to make it all happen. Be proud of yourselves! You did an amazing job. Thank you. Sponsors We love our sponsors! Despite the fact that we don’t advertise or raise funds publicly, donations continued to flow in from generous individuals, schools and companies. We are so glad that you are part of the Heart to Heart family and that you continue to support us. It was a great year for monetary donations – obviously. We couldn’t have paid for and supported 434 heart surgeries if it hadn’t been. Since we haven’t processed most of the social insurance reimbursements on qualified surgeries from 2025, 2026 should be a good year as well. We hope to increase the total number of surgeries we provide in 2026. Donors continue to send us new and 2nd hand in-kind donations. They were efficiently processed by the assembly teams at both Yoda and Yida Hospitals. Most of the new items were distributed within our sponsored families as they came into the hospital. Over 450 bags were packed and given out – full of toiletries, clothing, school bags, books, toys, diapers, etc. The families were very appreciative. Donated goods were also sent out to villages that requested help and the recipients seemed very happy with the clothing and toys that they received. Thanks to everyone who sent us goods – used or new. Everything was truly appreciated. Yida Hospital All of our heart surgeries were performed at Yida Hospital in 2025. They were extremely efficient in locating and bringing in our little patients who needed heart surgery for congenital heart disease. The majority of children in 2025 appeared to be from group screenings that occurred in the provinces of Fujian, Guizhou, Hunan, Qinghai, Shandong, Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan and Xinjiang. We also had many children from all over China come in through referrals from “sister” hospitals to our main hospitals. The hospitals and our volunteers at those hospitals did a great job. It entailed a lot of coordination, logistics and paperwork. It all got processed, however, and the children and family representatives all made it into the hospitals in Shanghai for their surgeries. Thank you!!! In Conclusion As I’ve said before many times over the years, everyone associated with Heart to Heart in ANY capacity should be extremely proud of what we achieved. Your performance in 2025 was incredible. Heart to Heart only exists due to your hard work, commitment, and donations. As a team -whether you are a volunteer, a sponsor, a hospital representative or a member of Rende Foundation – you changed everything for the 434 children (and their families) we helped. They are all going forward to live entirely different lives than they would have been able to without what you did for them. It is not often that anyone can positively impact others in this manner. Thank you for your generosity, selflessness, energy and commitment. You will be remembered by all those 434 children and families as the people who gave them new futures. Your dedication to Heart to Heart is inspiring. It is an honor to volunteer alongside you. I hope you are all as excited as I am to work towards a 2026 that is even better than 2025 for children with congenital heart disease in China who need help. Happy New Year! Come Help With AssemblyMaybe you think that since Heart to Heart has been around for 22 years that we don’t need help with our “back office” tasks – what we call the assembly teams. It’s not true, however. We used to have just one big assembly team that met in our Xuhui hospital location, but since we are now also in Qingpu district, the team had to split. It means that both teams are rather depleted. The teams are very important to fulfill our mission so we definitely need help at both our assembly locations! What do the assembly teams do? They help us prepare for all the various activities we do to support our sponsored children and their families. Nothing could go forward smoothly at Heart to Heart without the assemblers. In our assembly group (men and women are welcome!) we sort donated goods, dress bears, move boxes, send items to the countryside, recycle, clean, set up for events, prepare for field trips, sew on buttons, embroider …. the list is endless. We try to assign people to tasks they enjoy so don’t worry if you aren’t very talented in a certain area! No skills are required. All you have to be is at least 15 years old to participate. It’s usually a very social activity – lots of fun. We usually meet 1 – 3 times a week at our assembly rooms within Yoda Hospital or Yida Hospital. The primary assembly sessions are always posted in the “Activities” section of the website. More are posted in the group chats associated with the two groups once you’re an assembly volunteer. We want your help so please fill out an application and come help us. You’ll be glad you did! 。 |

| Children Helping Children at Events We sometimes underestimate the power of kids helping kids. After working with the children at SUIS Pujiang/Shangyin for many years, it’s something I usually do anymore, however. SUIS Pujiang/Shangyin has a winter concert each year featuring classes doing something representative of different countries around the globe. All of the parents are invited. It is quite the festive affair. And each year they ask us to sell bears at the event. For some reason back at the beginning I went by myself to work it – maybe the rest of the team was already occupied. Who knows. I thought it would be hectic by myself, but our contact at the school suggested that some of the 8 year olds help me sell the bears. It was AMAZING! They were so focused, so enthusiastic and so good! We completely sold out of the bears and I had to go back for more. Years have passed and each year the kids continued to volunteer and continued to be amazing. This year the original crew was no longer available during the sales period since they’ve moved up to Middle School. But a new group of 8 year olds was assigned. And the magic happened again…. so focused, so enthusiastic and so good!!!! An incredible amount of bears and H2H bags were sold and this year parents donated funds to attend the show. Almost 3 full children were sponsored through the bear/bag sale and the donations. Wow! I had a fun, relaxing day and we will change the lives of so many children as a result. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen! |

| A Message from Artist 欲了解更多信息,请联系:infoh2h@rendefoundation.org I perceive the world and understand the universe through color, conveying positive energy. My works contain no somber elements; the colors are always bright, often even high-key, because I refuse to infuse my art with negative energy. To me, art is a form of universal love, a realm where soul and spiritual pursuit can be found, and a cherished friend flowing in my blood. Beyond my artistic accomplishments, it is one of an artist’s social responsibilities to continuously spread positive energy in society and through art. Energy can be transformed. I believe the core of my work resonates deeply with the pure charitable spirit of Heart to Heart. Therefore, I will continue to be part of the Heart to Heart family. By the end of 2025, Heart to Heart had helped 3,872 children with heart diseases raise funds and successfully undergo operations. In the upcoming spring of 2026, our Jin Guang Art Public Welfare Community will actively launch regular public welfare art teaching and art & culture salons for entrepreneurs on the Bund. We welcome entrepreneurs, venue owners, professional curators, international philanthropists, and artists in Shanghai or Suzhou with space resources to join us in collaboration. Together, we will elevate the spiritual civilization of our city and help more children from disadvantaged families in China who suffer from congenital heart disease receive life-saving operations. | Letter from a Parent Letter of Appreciation To: Shanghai Medical University Hospital (Yida Hospital) Heart to Heart Charity Initiative I would like to express our deepest gratitude to you with feelings of appreciation. We come from Danxian County, Heze City, Shandong Province. Our child was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease on January 17, 2026, and needed heart surgery. Upon hearing this news, we felt as though the sky had fallen. We did some research on the costs, which turned out to be quite high. We were so worried that we couldn’t eat or sleep. Later, we heard that Shanghai Medical University Hospital had the Heart to Heart Program. We quickly reported our child’s condition and family situation to the local civil affairs bureau. After multiple reviews, the conditions met the criteria for assistance. This is when we saw hope! Since the child was already in the second year of high school and was under a lot of academic pressure, with final exams scheduled before the New Year, we arrived at Shanghai Medical University Hospital on the sixth day of the New Year. After the doctor resumed work on the eighth, various examinations were conducted, and the surgery was performed on the tenth. It was a very successful procedure. The child is recovering very well at present. We are deeply grateful to Shanghai Medical University Hospital’s Heart to Heart Charity Organization for alleviating our heavy financial burden and giving us hope for a better future! Thank you so much! We will always remember you. Family member of a patient from Danxian County, Heze City, Shandong Province. 2026 February 28 |

| Helping Kids Enjoy Themselves Despite Their Circumstances When little Long Yunlin walked into the playroom, you could tell he was terrified. He had no idea what to expect. He was in the hospital for his second (and final) open heart surgery; he couldn’t have been having the best time in the world despite the fact that the surgery was all over and he would be going home soon. He had come down to the playroom because his grandfather had told him it would be okay and he would have fun. Nevertheless, as he looked at the boys from Scouting America Troop 12B who were there to greet him, he really wasn’t sure it was a good idea. He almost left, but then he took a few steps forward and he was in. The boy scouts quickly determined he needed help figuring things out and being comfortable. The scouts were patient and kind – seeming to understand his reticence. Slowly, but surely, he started to enjoy himself. He forgot about his difficult home situation and his pain. Smiles crept across his face. He was the happiest we’ve ever seen him. Hopefully, he’ll take some of that joy and confidence into his new life once he returns home with his grandfather, who is his only remaining relative. I know his grandfather was touched as well and truly does think Long Yunlin will be able to succeed in life despite all the disadvantages he has had. Thank you Troop 12B – Benjamin, Bosco, Jeremy, Jin, Lorenzo, Renjee and Richard. We really appreciate you taking the time to interact with the children in the playroom. It will live on in all the children’s hearts and help heal them beyond the surgery. |

| Featured Child – Luo Yaxin Heart to Heart has almost sponsored 4,000 children for heart surgery. With that many children having had surgery, you would think that no one remembers them all. Any time one of them comes back into the hospital for a second surgery, however, you realize how it just isn’t true. Each child seems to be remembered. Thus is the case with little Luo Yaxin. She had a complex heart problem that required several surgeries. She had her first open heart surgery back in 2021 and was sponsored through a donation made by the kind folks at CMD. She came through it well and was sent home to grow and mature until it was time for her second surgery. Luo Yaxin is now 7 years old came to us in November for her 2nd surgery. Luckily, a warm-hearted person from BlueScope had donated a full sponsorship and Luo Yaxin was the child selected to be the recipient. Luo Yaxin lives with her Yi minority grandparents and father in a self-built house in rural Guizhou province. Her parents are separated. She is cared for by her grandmother. Her grandfather had an accident and was severely injured. He is unable to take care of himself so the grandmother takes care of him as well. They rely fully on the father to support them financially. He is an unskilled migrant worker who spends long periods away from home. He sends as much of this home to support the family as he can. He could not raise or borrow enough money to cover the costs of Luo Yaxin’s second surgery. Luo Yaxin returned to us in early November for her second surgery. Although she had changed a lot in 5 years, it was still definitely her and she vaguely remembered us. Her father definitely did and was glad to see us. Luo Yaxin quickly became very comfortable with the Heart to Heart volunteers and had her second open heart surgery on November 20. It went well, but her recovery was slow so we had the privilege of knowing her for 3 months this time. She was all smiles on her discharge date and gave us big hugs. She wanted everyone to know how much she appreciates the funding of her surgeries and all the support she got in the hospital. We will miss her! She is a great little ambassador for Heart to Heart! |

| Don’t Forget Art for Hearts! It is currently the “down” season for preparations for our next Art for Hearts. We haven’t started the thousands of tasks that are necessary for putting the show together. Instead, we are welcoming the children who were sponsored for heart surgery by the 2025 Art for Hearts art show into the hospital for their surgeries. The first two children have completed their heart surgeries and are doing great! They are two small children from Yunnan province – Li Keyi and Hu Changtao. Their families are really glad that the artists donated so many fantastic works and that the sponsors and volunteers worked so hard to put everything together. It took generosity on many people’s parts, but to Li Keyi, Hu Changtao and their families, it was totally worth it. Their children have new lives to look forward to – a chance that they didn’t have before. What is Art for Hearts? The first “Art for Hearts” Art Exhibition was held in 2018 with the aim of inviting artists of all kinds to donate their works. The sales of these works support an important charitable cause—providing heart surgeries for Chinese children born with congenital heart disease whose families cannot afford the cost for heart surgery. Since its inception, 70+ children have been helped through this exhibition and have successfully undergone surgery. It’s an incredible event! What can you do? If you’re an artist – start thinking of up to 3 works of art to create for the 2026 show (probably in November). A “Call for Artists” will come out in the summer that tells you how to sign up and donate. | Returning to the Land of OZ, Will Be Missing My Shanghai Chapter After 11 wonderful years in Shanghai, I’m returning to the land of Oz. Shanghai has been home for so long, and leaving it is filled with reflection, gratitude, and more than a few mixed emotions. I joined Heart to Heart five years ago, and I honestly don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. It has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. But now it’s time to begin a new adventure and return home to spend more time with my beautiful kids, Sophie and Ryan. Assembly has been my passion and has truly enriched my life in such a positive way. As Forrest Gump might say, assembly is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get! We work hard in assembly, and yes, it is truly chaotic at times. But we are a community of different personalities who always pull together for a common cause, helping children who need life-saving heart surgery. What greater purpose in life could there be? I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is thinking of volunteering for a truly worthwhile cause. Thankfully, most of us will never have to face the heartache of being confronted with our own children needing life-saving surgery. Being part of an organisation that supports families living that reality has been humbling beyond words. I was incredibly lucky to go on two field trips with Heart to Heart. The most memorable for me was visiting Sichuan Province in November 2023. It was deeply moving to see firsthand the impact of the work being done. One particularly special moment was when we all pitched in to raise funds to donate a library package in Karen’s name, recognising her 20 years of service with Heart to Heart. Seeing her name on the plaque, and knowing how much that donation will mean to so many children in the school library, was very special to her, and to all of us. I’ve had so much fun along the way, watching the Tibetan kids come down from their wards as they recovered when we used to have surgeries at Yoda, the crazy busy sales at Yoda and Yida, and even becoming Allan’s apprentice cutting down boxes and doing garbage runs. Many often joked that Allan and I were like an old married couple, but that was soon to change when he moved to Yida. Now Allan and Karen are the ones seen by visiting families as that old married couple, how quickly Allan is to change, LOL! I leave with a heavy heart and very mixed feelings. But I also leave with deep gratitude. We hope to travel, play golf, and enjoy the sea and sand back in Australia as we settle into this next part of our lives. Thank you for all your friendship and support. It truly means so much. I will miss you all. 我最投入的志愿服务是在 Assembly(物资整理与打包)。 Sandra |

| Featured Volunteer – Sunita Rafiz Hi, I am Sunita Rafiz. I was introduced to Karen from Heart to Heart by my daughter. From that day to now, almost two decades have passed. During that time, I have been lending my hand in different work spheres and have had the opportunity to meet and work with other wonderful people along the way. Volunteering has helped me evolve and taught me to understand and deal with situations in a deeper in-depth perspective. Most of the time period I have been working as playroom volunteer where you come in close proximity with the children, who come from very humble backgrounds and need medical help. This is where we come in picture and help the children get better. The smiles on their faces after a successful surgery fills my heart with happiness and deepest gratitude for being able to contribute in this noble cause. I want to conclude by saying “my contribution is negligible compared to what I have gained in terms of learning deeper values of life and understanding – empathy. Thanks! |
